We offer a variety of virtual tutoring schedules at competitive rates to accommodate the specific needs of our clients. Session prices range from $35-$65 depending on the type of session – private or group. The most preferred tutoring model is a private, 50-minute session, two to three times per week. This model is intensive and will increase the opportunity of reversing poor reading skills.

We recommend more intensive tutoring services to children who are reading two or more grade-levels below their current grade-level. Research has proven that without an intensive intervention, students have a 1 in 8 chance of ever catching up (Moats, 2009). The best tutoring format for a child requiring intensive tutoring services is one-one-one, the child and the tutor. In some situations, shorter sessions and/or multi-client sessions are acceptable; however, shared tutoring services are more suitable for students who possess third grade reading skills or higher.

Potential clients who are interested in shorter sessions or group sessions should express interest during the initial consultation.

Before tutoring services begin, your child will take reliable and valid assessments to evaluate their needs in the five components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. To ensure accurate diagnostic results, we administer more than one assessment for each component of reading. During the initial consultation, we will offer a thorough overview of our assessment system; brief descriptions are provided below.

Phonological Awareness Assessments: To assess your child’s phonological awareness skills, we use assessments that measure his or her ability to blend, delete, substitute, manipulate, and reverse sounds at the syllable, onset-rime and phoneme levels.

Phonics Assessments: We administer an assessment that determines your child’s sight word and phonic decoding efficiency. These assessments require your child to read lists of real and nonsense words under timed and untimed conditions.

Fluency Assessments: After a phonics assessment is administered, your child will take an initial fluency measure at the appropriate grade-level to determine the number of words read in a 60-second time frame.

Vocabulary & Comprehension Assessments: Given passages of varying lengths, your child will demonstrate his/her ability to determine the meaning of unknown words and phrases and to comprehend connected text.

The assessment results will inform the design of your child’s personalized tutoring plan. Based on the results, we will determine the best reading curriculum and/or interventions to implement while tutoring your child; we utilize evidence-based intervention programs, including the Orton Gillingham approach. Prior to starting tutoring services, we will ensure that you are knowledgeable about your child’s reading strengths and deficits as indicated by the assessment data. An electronic copy of both the assessment results and the tutoring plan will be provided. Thereafter, parents can expect to receive biweekly and monthly reports summarizing their child’s progress toward reading mastery. Reports will outline the specific reading skills of focus and the child’s response to the intervention.

In addition to the assessment results provided by Absolute Language & Literacy Tutoring Services, LLC, parents have the option to share assessment reports from their child’s school, speech and language therapist, or psychologist to further support the development of the individualized tutoring plan. Within six months or less, a thorough review of the child’s assessment data may result in a revision in the suggested tutoring plan.
